Radio interface

The physical layer of OpenlinkIQ® conforms to EU Commission Decision (EU) 2022/180 (amendment to EU Commission Decision 2006/771/EC on harmonization of the radio spectrum for use by short-range devices).

OpenlinkIQ® comprises a long range communication technology. In the figure below the channel allocation for OpenlinkIQ® transmissions is shown as the lower band. Also shown is that OpenlinkIQ® operates in a frequency band apart from the wireless M-Bus mode C channel (specified in EN 13757-4). OpenlinkIQ® operates in a band that is license exempt and free to use under the conditions depicted in the following.

The band used for OpenlinkIQ® communication.

Of the available bands defined in EU Commission Decision (EU) 2022/180 the following has been selected for OpenlinkIQ® long range transmissions.

Band number: 48 (EU wide harmonised)

  • Frequency range: 868.0 MHz to 868.6 MHz (license free ISM band)
  • Permitted duty cycle: 1 % (measured over any 1 hour interval)
  • Max ERP: 14 dBm (25 mW)

Other RF parameters and requirements than those defined above shall be derived from EN 300 220-2 Short Range Devices (SRD) operating in the frequency range 25 MHz to 1.000 MHz.
